Charlie Cooper's Fit Pic Breakdown - French Workwear, St. Laurent, Farlows, Fera and Sin-Eater
Charlie Cooper breaks down some historic fit pics on My Own Garms.
Crop Circles
Knitted Jumper from Tamoshanter
“That jumper was from a little shop in Penzance? Called Tamoshanter, it’s an amazing shop, it’s an old guy who knits them all himself, they’re about £30 - £40.”
“He does like Merino wool jumpers, roll necks. It’s like chainmail, real cable knit wool.”
“I was wearing it the other day and it got caught on the side of a door and unravelled loads of the arm.”
“This was in Wiltshire in a wheat field when I was making a crop circle.”
“I’ve had a tendency to overthink my clothes in a lot of situations, but I’ve been watching a lot of Michael Palin travel series’. I love what he wears in that, it’s always really simple like shirts and chinos.”
Ego Boost
Saint Laurent Jeans and Paul Smith Turtle Neck
“Think that’s a woods in Essex somewhere, but I’m rocking some sort of sequinned cowboy shirt, with some unbelievably tight black jeans and a haircut that I can only describe as Flock Of Seagulls.
“I wore a lot of interesting clothes, and it did have a big impact on me, in terms of confidence in wearing clothes, it was massive.”
“It took the anxiety and self-consciousness of wearing clothes away because someone thinks I look cool.”
“I did some of the fashion weeks, and it was insane. I did a couple of Tiger of Sweden suits, which were amazing suits, you know, when you’re wearing something worth a lot of money. They were a perfect fit.”
“When something’s practical and stylish, it’ll just never go away.”
“As a kid I remember I fell in love with a brown suede jacket with the tassels. It was in Debenhams, and my gran worked there, it was really expensive, and she bought it for me.”
“That feeling of wearing something and feeling like a different person, so powerful.”
Tracksuit Aspirations
Open Shirt, Navy t-shirt and Orange Farlows hat
“That was in Waterstones in Bath when I first met you and Craig Parkinson. What a legend.”
“This was my favourite hat and I lost it, an orange Farlows hat which is like an angling hat, theres a great fishing shop in London in Mayfair, really expensive.”
“I’m a big cap guy, I get so annoyed with my hair and having to style it and or put product in, so just so easy whacking a cap on.”
“I wish I had the confidence to wear a fedora or something, I don’t think it would ever happen.”
“There’s a brand called Fera that I love; the caps, particularly, are so well made.”
“Sineater is like a folklore based, sort of artist but he does amazing illustrations. He does T-shirt hoodies and caps, he’s brought out a corduroy brown cap with green writing on the front that says peasant, which is brilliant and fits me perfectly because I am a peasant.”
“I’ve got a French work jacket which I absolutely love, i’ve had it for a couple of years and its already faded. But you’re not worried about it getting dirty because it’s part of the charm.”
